3-month-old baby scalded?!

Question: 3-month-old baby scalded.?
My friend's toddler spilled hot water on my 3-month-old son's fist last night and scalded it. The skin at the back of his hand peeled, revealing something that looked like swollen flesh. We didnt know first aid for scalds so we immediately brought him to the ER, but the doctor took an hour before cleaning it. He was administered morphine before that to keep him calm but i am worried that the late treatment will affect his chances of healing quickly. They just left the scald exposed for over an hour till the doctor came..will this increase the chances of infection.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
yes their is a possibility of infection ,this is a very serious wound as all of the tissues have been damaged your first course of action should have been to remove any heat by passing your babies hand under cold running water for at least 10 Min's then wrapping it in cling film to reduce any Fluid lose and preserve the tissues around the effected area then seek medical advice.... you 've learnt the hard way this time and i hope everything turns out ok for you and your baby, try to get some idea of how to deal with first aid i suggest you do a course in your area perhaps through the red cross or st johns organisation Health Question & Answer
