What to do when you cut a vein?!

Question: What to do when you cut a vein.?
While working in the kitchen today, I accidentally knocked off a knife off the counter and it flew right into my foot. By the amount of blood everywhere I assume I might have cut a vein (also I can see veins close to the surface of my skin that go in the direction of the cut) is there anything particular I need to do in this case, other then just washing the wound and applying some neosporin.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Nope. You did all you can do. If its deep, you might want to go to the doctor for antibiotics so it doesn't get infected, see if it needs stitches and possibly a tetanus shot. The veins will heal, nothing to do but wrap it. Health Question & Answer

if you know for sure you cut a vein and it keeps bleeding, you should probably getting stiches. they don't hurt, i had stitches on my eyelid for 3 weeks you'll be fineHealth Question & Answer

Clean it, cover it, and maybe keep it elevated for awhile. Will help slow the bleeding down and prevent swelling in your foot. If it is deep and won't clot or keeps opening head to the ER.Health Question & Answer
