Advice please on these symptoms..ear problems and bruising...?!

Question: Advice please on these symptoms..ear problems and bruising....?
(Only serious answers please!!) 2 week ago my mum had a accident a work..she banged the top/back of her head on a metal object at work..not very hard but hard enough to leave a lump. Then a week later she woke with a 'noise' in her ear, kinda like a whooshing noise. She said her hearing had all but dissapeared in her left ear and her ear was feeling numb.
On monday (2 days later) it was no better, she went to GP who prescribed antihistamine tablets as he thought it was a allergy. We all thought this was highly unlikely as she had never suffered before (she is 56).
Anyway by wednesday she was no better and she was feeling pretty ill with it so she went to A+E. The doctor looked at her ear and told her he thinks she has chipped a bone in the top part of her ear when she banged her head and that was causing the disruption to her hearing..then gave her painkillers. On friday she weny back to her GP complaining of severe headaches..he tol her to carry on with the painkillers the hopital gave her but admitted to her that they didnt know what it could be, but something wasn't right.
Now i have just come back from my mum's and she has a huge yellow and black bruise behind her right ear!! She has not fallen/banged/etc..it has just appeared..she still cannot hear very well out of her left ear and has terreble headaches.
I'm really worried now as she has seen 3 doctors who dont really know what it is. Does anyone know what all these symptoms could mean, or has had something similar.?
She is going back to her GP tomorrow about the bruise...

I'm sure you already know this, but your mom had a head injury. The symptoms are all there. See 1st website. also. the bruising behind the ear is common with a "battle's sign" See 2nd website. You should look as much information up as possible. Go with your mom to the doctor and make sure she gets the care she needs.

I also found that the Battle's sign can be called ottorhea.

Good luck!Health Question & Answer
