Back ache or something worse?!

Question: Back ache or something worse.?
I started uni about 3 weeks ago, and for 2 weeks I have had a really bad pain at the bottom of my back. I woke up this morning and couldn't move, and it hurts especially when i put my back straight. Its not just like an ache, its really sharp pains in the bottom of my back which are there whether I'm sat down, stood up, etc.

I suspect it may be the bed here as I went home overnight a few days ago, and when I woke up it was gone. Then, I come back to uni, and sleep in the bed overnight and it comes straight back.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be.? Its effecting my studies and really hurts. :(

Back pain's very common - don't worry. I think it's likely that it is your new bed (especially having slept on a uni accommodation bed myself - not the best quality). However, if it's really bad, going to the doctor might set your mind at rest.

To get rid of back pain, it's important not to rest more than usual. You should exercise more if anything, to strengthen the muscles and reduce the ache. Taking ibuprofen or paracetamol may dull the pain enough for you to do this.

It also might be an idea to have a go at your uni accommodation services. If you make a fuss, they'll probably give you a brand new mattress, which may solve the problem.

You could have slept wrong. There is really no way of knowing unless you get it checked out. If it goes away then it was prob just sleeping wrong but if you are still in pain after a few days I would go to a Dr or specialist.Health Question & Answer

it could be a kidney problem... or some type of infection in your kidneys, this has happened to me b4. or maybe a pulled muscle. go to the dr he will be able to help with pain and also an antibiotic if neededHealth Question & Answer

it probably is the bed you are sleeping in...if you have a soft mattress try a hard one or vise versa...
or if you can afford it a memory foam...
i should still get it checled out tho
