I messed up my knee today really badly!!!?!

Question: I messed up my knee today really badly!!!.?
Well I'm a Sophomore in HS and today in gym class, we played soccer, only the fields were wet so we were forced to play inside on the basketball court. Anyways, I got tripped and pushed (with lots of force) to the ground and landed directly on my kneecap. It was extremely painful. As a person with a history of knee problems and with a family who also has history with knee problems, I knew there was probably something wrong since it hurt really bad. At first, it was just black and blue, but as the day progressed, it swelled more and more and now it's very strange. It doesn't look black and blue, but it almost seems as if there is a bubble or giant blister of some sort covering my entire kneecap. When you touch it, it feels honestly like there's a bubble and it's really gross and weird. also, when I move the kneecap around, it DEFINITELY seems to be a lot looser than the other. When I move it, it feels like it's vibrating almost. I can walk on it decently (not great of course) but when I try to walk upwards, say up a flight of stairs, i want to scream it hurts so badly. I don't know what to do here. My parents don't think it's a big deal so they don't think it's necessary to bring me to the doctor. Does anybody know what's going on or what I should do.? Thank you.Health Question & Answer

You need to rest the knee, ice and elevate it, don't put any sort of compression on it as if its still swelling this will make it worse. You should see the Dr as its it's swollen there may be fluid on the knee that needs to be removed - this sounds horrible but once the fluid is removed it will feel a whole lot better. The Dr can also check to make sure you've not done anymore damage as the pain could just be from the swelling or the knee cap is misaligned. But knee pains should not be ignored as they can get worse if not treatedHealth Question & Answer

That happened to me too! I fell really hard on my kneecap and then when i started walking down and up the stairs it hurt SO BAD! and the kneecap was like wiggling around.

You might of popped your kneecap out of its socket or bruised your kneecap bone (thats what happened to me).

ice it and try not to walk on it too muchHealth Question & Answer

It sounds like most of the swelling is in the prepatellar bursa. Definitely keep it iced and elevatedHealth Question & Answer
