What will a doctor do regarding ear wax removal?!

Question: What will a doctor do regarding ear wax removal.?
I've been trying to sort out my ear wax problems in both my ears now. It's been about a week, and I'm not getting anywhere. The left one has no ear wax to speak of, and yet it still pops constantly and sometimes if I lean on the other side becomes blocked until I change sides. The right one is completely blocked, and seems just full of wax. If any health care professionals have advice other than oil and over-the-counter medication from the pharmacist's, which I've tried (as well as a syringe with water), I'd appreciate it.

In any case, now I've more or less resigned myself to the fact that I have to go to the clinic and get it checked out. I'm terrified, given I'm pretty sure they're going to stick a syringe in my ear and cause me quite a lot of pain. Has anyone been to the doctor's regarding this sort of problem.? What did they do.? I just want it over with, but at the same time, I'd like to be forewarned about what I'm up against.Health Question & Answer

It is a pain free procedure where the doctor takes a luke warm solution puts it in your ear waits a couple of minutes and sucks it out . From someone who had the procedure there is nothing to worry about.Health Question & Answer

I dont know what the doctor does but you can go to like a health store or vitamin store and buy ear candels they are long tube like things that you light on fire (have someone help you) it takes about 20 miniutes to burn down completely and since the tube is on fire it makes like a suction and all the ear wax in your ears and dirt and stuff thats there will be sucked up to the bottom of the tube. once the candel is burnt out you can cut open the bottom of the tube and see all the junk in it its really grose! even if you clean your ears a 100 times and think they are clean you still have tons of stuff that the tube sucked up its pretty cool. I though I had awful ear wax problems last spring. The pain got bad and I thought I had an ear infection. (I also tried the ear wax removed and the bulb syringe) It turned out that all that popping in there was pressure from allergies and fluid trying to drain. My doctor told me to take the sudefed that you get over the counter, but have to ask a pharmacist for and show your licenses to get. It was such a tremendous help. I've taken it a lot this fall as the weather changed and consider it a life saver.

I haven't had my ear wax cleaned out in a doctor's office before, but I used to work in a pediatrician's office and they had a special little machine that makes me think of a water pick - maybe that's what it was. Anyhow, they would put the medication in there that helps to dissolve the wax and then the machine would used warm water to flush it out. Kids never cried that much and when your ear hurts warm can make it feel a lot better, so maybe it even feels good, but I always thought it would tickle.Health Question & Answer

heck, i know!!! DON'T JUST GO TO THE DOCTOR!!!!! they will screw up your ears worse (at least they did to me!) go to an ENT (ears nose and throat doctor)...the one i started going to over a year ago scraped out the outside wax and then stuck this tiny tube thing in my ear and sucked out the wax that blocked my ears (which caused the loss hearing and buzzing humming sound)...and yup, i could hear again! but my right ear did have a slight infection as well...no big deal...just gave me some antibiotics and ear drops...mmm...yeah and then my ears were all better...but i have had a wax build up problem for the past 8 years; i dunno why...i have to go every 6 months to get them cleaned out...also my ENT dr. told me to use baby oil to help the wax not build up...but go get your ears cleaned out before trying the baby oil...cause right now it'll only make it worse...umm...yeah don't go to a dr. who is gonna syringe your ears...it can be very painful and is nowhere near as effective as what my ENT does...and that isn't painful, just a little uncomfortable...Health Question & Answer
