Finger question Please answer!?!

Question: Finger question Please answer!.?

About exactly a week ago I hurt my finger playing basketball. I hit it on the poll and then desided to keep playing and jamed it a couple of times.(I have a really high pain tolerence) It got really swollen like my regular knuckle times 2. I didnt want to go to the doc. cause its just my finger even though my mom wants me too. But its been a week and its still not better. I can move it but not all the way(it just wont go) and when I move it all it hurts. What do you think could be wrong with it.?(a chipped bone or broken or just sprained) and what should I do about it.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
There's about a 50% chance you fractured one of your finger bones.

Definitely go to the doctor right away to get an X-ray. Until then, tape the injured finger(s) to the ones next to it so you don't move it (can make it heal poorly). Don't play basketball until the X-ray's done, please.

Hope ya get better!Health Question & Answer

I play netball and this always happens to my fingers, is there a bruise on the joint.? Because it sounds like you have jarred your finger which I have done at least 6 times to each finger. It takes about a week and a half to heal, and there isn't any problems after it has healed. Just strap it (place a tissue between the damaged finger and the one next to it, and tape the two together) for the time being, and avoid basketball until you can bend it fully. If you're really concerned have an x-ray, I could be wrong after all.Health Question & Answer

Given your prolonged pain and the degree of swelling you describe, it is likely broken. Go to a doctor or emergency department for further evaluation. An improperly treated fracture can heal poorly and cause a lot of problems in the future, including but not limited to chronic pain.
