Urine test at a Pain management clinic ?!

Question: Urine test at a Pain management clinic .?
I took a urine test yesterday at a pain management clinic, I have been going there for about 6 months. Do they do the results there in the office or do they send them off.? I took the sample when i first got there and it took the Dr. a good while to come in and see me, so i figured they were checking it. Anybody got any comments.Health Question & Answer

They run these every now and then to be sure you are only taking the medications that they prescribed and to be sure you are not doing any street drugs. This was part of your contract that states they can run these every now and again and that you consent to it. If they find any thing in your system that they did not prescribe they can refuse to treat you any longer. They do an in house test with them that gives some instant numbers that show a trace to a lot of drugs in the system but this is run on some very specific drugs or compounds of drugs. They then send the test to a lab for further testing and if you get the billing breakdowns (EOB) from your insurance company you will see which lab they send it to and that test just costed your insurance company between 3-8 hundred bucks! Just part of the contract though.Health Question & Answer

It depends. Some clinics do their own results, and others send them out. Why are they checking your urine at a pain management clinic.? Do they maybe suspect that you may be doing some other drugs than what they prescribe to try and control your pain.? Just wondering...Health Question & Answer

Some of the new clinics do the tests themselves.Health Question & Answer

they check it while you are there.Health Question & Answer
