id try tylenol cough and cold.. that works really well for me, and also you may wanna use lotioned tissues when you blow your nose that definitely helps it from not being so red and chafed.. i really like vaporex when i have a cold like yours.. you rub it under your nose and on your chest, and it completely opens up your sinuses.. hope you feel better!Health Question & Answer

Put a pan of water on the stove and heat it until it boils for a minute or so. Add some regular table salt and stir it in the water. I just take a salt shaker and shake the salt in for about 10 to 12 shakes. Depending on the size of the pan. After it boils a little while, turn off the heat and lean down toward the stem, don't get to close just until you can breathe in the steam deeply through your nostrils, mouth closed, and even deeply through your mouth and nose at the same time.. When you breathe in the steam, don't exhale it while still close to the steam straighten up and exhale then go back down and get some more. If you exhale while close to the pan, the steam from the water will blow away in all directions and you have to wait until it starts to rise again in one cloud. Do this as many times as you can, but have a tissue handy to blow your nose. Get a humidifier and let it run while you are sleeping. You are not putting any liquids up your nose just moist steam and a cool mist with the humidifier while breathing. Works well for me. Best to you young lady. Good luck.Health Question & Answer

Tylenol cough and cold or Tylenol Sinus, both work great. You could also use some vicks menthol rub, just rub a little under each nostril and breath in the vapors. Or another suggestion is sitting in a bathroom and turn the hot water on, sit in there and breath in the steam from the water, it will open you sinus cavities and make it easier for you to breath. I also hate any liquids in my nose, they always seemed to burn like hell or cause painful irritation in the back of my throat... BUT- for many, many years I was a sufferer of chronic sinusitis and horrible allergies. I tried everything from all the usual otc pills to several prescription pills, liquid sprays and aerosols like Nasacort. But by far the best, most effective and least uncomfortable treatment I have ever found was suggested by my 3rd respiratory specialist- its called a Sinus Rinse and you can check it out at WWW.NEILMED.COM. It is a ph balanced saline sinus rinse. I know it sounds horrible, but you really can't even tell theres liquid in your nose when using it, other than a warm feeling and sometimes having to spit some out. (occasionally it gets trapped in the small cavities of the sinuses so when you bend over or move your head fast it comes dripping out unexpectedly)
I reluctantly tried it when I had all but given up on all the other meds, and have never looked back since!
I found that just adding it to my shower routine makes it pretty easy to get used to and quite convenient. After years of suffering from colds, sinus infections and allergies several times a year, my sinuses rarely bother me anymore, if at all! (and now I don't even have to use it but once a week or less!- In your case, you'd probably only need to use it when you felt a cold coming on and it would cut way down on your suffering time and speed up your recovery) *One thing to always remember with this product though, is never ever use it if you can't get at least a little air through each nasal passage and never force it or blow your nose too hard while there is still some left in your sinuses or you will end up with clogged ears too! But seriously, if you get colds or your sinuses bother you very often, this product is absolutely amazing!... PLUS ITS NATURAL AND HEALTHY!

And yeah- a softer tissue plus putting vasaline or udder cream on/in/around your nostrils will help with preventing the raw chafing effects of constant dripping and rubbing.Health Question & Answer
