Question: I have an open cut with skin hanging.?
i have cut my middle knuckle and is quite deep but not enough to see a doctor. however, i have excess skin hanging remaining from the cut, should this be removed or should i leave it, hoping that the skin will re-join.?

First step would be to clean it out. Soap and water will do. Next apply direct pressure until the bleeding stops. This means don't lift it to check on it! Once it has stopped throw some neosporin on it then a sterile bandage. So not remove the excess skin. It will heal on it's own. Oh and be more careful next time!!!!Health Question & Answer
DO NOT APPLY ALCOHOL - IT WILL HURT LIKE HELL. You use hydrogen peroxide to clean a wound, not alcohol - trust me, you will be in agony if you use alcohol.
Wash the wound and leave the skin - put it flat in place on the wound. Get some antibiotic ointment like neosporin and cover the cut, then bandage it snugly. You should keep it bandaged for a few days and change the bandage and ointment every day. It will probably scab and the skin will be a part of that so just leave it. Health Question & Answer

The skin will not rejoin, but don't cut it off. Clean it with plain water. Put a clean cloth on it and apply pressure. Keep your hand elevated as well. When the bleeding stops, get some neosporin and put on a bandaid.
If it doesn't stop bleeding see a doctor.

you should probably go to the docs, those types of cuts have a problem healing bacause it will keep opening due to it being on a big flex point on your hand. if your adamant on not going to the hospital soak it in warm soapy water, make sure its clean on inside and press the skin over the wound back where it was. apply some super glue to glue the skin back together. I did the same thing. I was cutting something and the scissors slipped and sliced the skin on the knuckle. I left the skin but probably should have removed it. It healed and rejoined the skin but is a raised up scar. Health Question & Answer
Apply alcohol. Add bandage..wait a day..skin might peel off by itself or you might have to take it off. It should scab after 2-3 days or so.
