Husband accidently gave 13 month old daughter too much laxative...help!?!

Question: Husband accidently gave 13 month old daughter too much laxative...help!.?
My husband is supposed to give our 13 month old daughter 1 TEASPOON of MOM at night to help with her constipation. Well he accidently grabbed the wrong spoon and gave her a TABLESPOON. So of course, being a mom, I'm freaking out. I made him call her doctor and her doctor didn't seem concerned at all. But when I look online it says all sorts of things about overdosing on MOM can cause coma or death. So should I still be concerned.?.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Call any pharmacist NOW.

Call poison control now.

Put your mind at rest. I have no idea if there are dangers...but you need to find out immediately.

If you notice anything strange at all...take her to emergency. She could end up with cramps and pain, just like if we take too much laxative.

If your doctor isn't too concerned. everything is probably ok...but you need to feel okay about it...so call the places I suggested.

That is my advise.

For future use: please look at this www.youtube.com video from a doctor about what laxatives do to children. Please stop using them. There are other methods and most importantly, you want to figure out why she is constipated so badly she needs laxatives in the first place.

Good luck! I am sure everything will be okay.Health Question & Answer

The one thing you need to do is keep your daughter hydrated!!! Since the laxative will make her bowels move through her faster than normally you want to keep her hydrated best thing is water! nothing with alot of sugar.
If you think her electrolytes are getting lower you could give here a Gatorade; Gatorade is a good source of electrolytes but don't let her just drink that... if she can drink water that will be the best.Health Question & Answer

Try calling a pharmacy or another doctor. Perhaps mention your daughter's weight as well. Definitely get a second opinion if it will put your mind at ease.Health Question & Answer
