LOL.
I dont know but your science teacher obviously doesn't think its extremely hazardous so it can't be too severe, just wash it off and learn to live with the pretty funny face on your hand:PHealth Question & Answer

That IS kind of funny.
"Skin contact with silver nitrate solid or solutions is likely to leave silver stains on the skin. These develop slowly over a period of hours and are initially brown, but darken gradually to black. Once the stains become apparent, they cannot usually be removed with soap and water, but gradually disappear as new skin grows."
You weren't supposed to let it come into contact with your skin.
You should wash it off with soap and water, as well as remove any contaminated clothing (or anything your contaminated skin touched... you sleeves, your coat, etc...)Health Question & Answer

Only long term. Short term side effects just include the purple or blue tinged stain which will fade as the chemical is processed through your body.

You've got an annoying stain on your hand. It's not something I'd recommend doing regularly, but this one instance won't be a problem. Heck they used to put it in baby's eyes...not that I'd recommend that. Wash the area thoroughly, and you'll be good.Health Question & Answer
No. heavy metals are good for you.Wash your face in a 1 molar mercury acetate solution and head home.
