Polymenorrhoea (frequent periods)
Polymenorrhoea is the term used to describe frequent periods. Classically it describes women who have a period more frequently than every 21 days.
The most common causes are related to menstrual cycles where no egg is produced (anovulatory cycles). This can occur in the climacteric (period leading to the menopause) and in women with polycystic ovaries. When no cause is found, this and other menstrual symptoms form part of the condition known as dysfunctional uterine bleeding.

What are the symptoms of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).?
The symptoms of PCOS include:
1. Irregular or no menstrual periods
2. Acne
3. Obesity, and
4. Excess hair growth
Other signs and symptoms of PCOS include:
* weight gain,
* acne,
* oily skin,
* dandruff,
* infertility,
* skin discolorations,
* high cholesterol levels,
* elevated blood pressure, and
* abnormal hair growth and distribution.
Any of the above symptoms and signs may be absent in PCOS, with the exception of irregular or no menstrual periods. All women with PCOS will have irregular or no menstrual periods. Women who have PCOS do not regularly ovulate; that is, they do not release an egg every month. This is why they do not have regular periods.

Health Question & Answer
well it depends: are you on the pill.? The pill could cause your period to be like that, especially if you just started it. It can also cause abdominal pain.
if not on the pill I would def. get in touch with your OBGYN ASAP. This could be a sign of Endometriosis (sp.?) which can be cured.
