Having surgery on pinched nerve in back?!

Question: Having surgery on pinched nerve in back.?
My mom has a pinched nerve in her lower back and she's having surgery this week. She's tried other things and taken pain meds, but nothing has helped. It only got worse and now, it's hard for her to walk or sleep. Anyone ever had or known someone to have pinched nerve surgery.? I'm just a little worried about her and how long will she be in recovery.?Health Question & Answer

Hay there,

my father had a pinched nerve in his lower back, sounds quite similar to the problem your mother is having. He had to have part of a slipped disc in his spine removed to free the nerve, this sounds a lot worse than it is.

I understand your worry however i shouldn't fret about it too much as my father was out of theatre and recovering within a week. According to him after the local anesthetic had kicked in he could not feel any pain.

His back is now a lot better and does not complain of the problem any more.

I hope your mother's op goes ok

Spinekids.com is a really good site. You don't have to sign up, you can just look at the boards and see what people say about it.

I had a spinal fusion in June and I had a ton of questions, and these girls helped a lot.. they have seen it ALL! and I definitely seen some posts about pinched nerves.

Definitely check it out, and sign up if you have any other questions :)Health Question & Answer
