Any basic medical emergency guides?!
Question: Any basic medical emergency guides.?
I plan on going to med school and such but I'm way too young (16) to go yet or to take some kind of adult course. I was hanging with some friends a while ago and we saw some guy get hit by a car and I realised I'm practically insane when it comes to danger and I'd like to know if there's a book or guide or even an online thing I can print out that covers the basic emergency precautions; What to do in case of gun or knife wounds, broken bones, choking (I pretty much got Heimlich down pat ;] ), head injury, extreme burns... etc. For like emergencies. also I'd appreciate no stupid comments or anything like "call a hospital" that was kind of obvious... I mean UNTIL the hospital comes...

Okay, I don't really know of any books or anything, but I know in PA if you are 16 you can go through Emergency Medical Technician classes. These are the people that are on ambulances. A lot of nurses and Drs start out here. I went through class when I was 17, and it is great. Plus, it will give you a job that pays more than minimum wage while you are going through school. Go to one of your local rescue squads and get some information. I'm not sure what the age requirements are in other states, but usually it is around 16. Good luck!Health Question & Answer
