There is an oral morphine, but in the stomach, it's not as readily available for pain relief. Injection will be absorbed and it will affect your body and relieve the pain where you are hurting by the pain receptors. IV is the direct route and affects are felt almost immediately 1-2 minutes, circulating time. Only medication that is given subcutaneously for local pain relief is like xylocaine for stitches, although, if given deep enough IM or hits a blood vessel will it affect the the body in different ways. Most importantly, it's the total dose per day that counts/24hrs and frequency, amount used (dose) and duration. So, which ever one works for you is best. Usually, MS (morphine) is given initally for pain relief and then decreases as healing occurs and or another pain med that is less powerful until total healing occurs. Chronic illness, cancers, bone pain and other use morphine and other pain meds for daily living, morphine isn't really a good pain reliever, it helps you tolerate the pain, but doesn't exactly take it away entirely. You can take morphine pills but IV means intravenous (going into the vein) There are several kinds of heavy narcotics to take by mouth it just does not hit as fast. Morphine is very addictive, actually all of the narcotics are addictive and your tolerance will go up over time needing a higher dose. You can take the shot in a muscle but bet that hurts real bad when it goes thru the skin. Your whole body will feel the morphine no matter how you take it but depending on how you take it will depend on how quickly its felt.

There is an oral morphine, but it comes in pills and isn't for IM or IV use. Morphine prepared for administration by IV (intravenous) or IM (intramuscular) use should be given exactly the way that it is directed to be given using a sterile needle. Morphine injected into a muscle will be absorbed and effect the whole body within 15-30 minutes; it doesn't just effect the area where it was injected.

You should be asking your physician or pharmacist about the proper use, dosage, action and absorption of morphine unless you are getting it from somebody or someplace illegally which is a dangerous idea. (To say nothing about being a stupid idea.) Its not a drug to trifle with unless you are under a doctor's supervision and even then not unless other methods of pain relief have been tried and failed.
