Hey, Im 13 years old and ive been smoking for almost a year. I think it is rather easy to get cigarettes in my town. I really feel like quiting. I tried quiting before but then I started smoking again. What are some best ways to quit and not having my mom not find out.? Nicotine gum.? Patches.? But I think you have to be 18 to buy them. That's stupid though if I am trying to QUIT! I really don't feel like dying of cancer like my grandpa and two of my aunts. Just please list some tips on quiting when I'm 13. Just help a 13 year old kid out that doesn't want to smoke. Thanks everybody. =/Health Question & Answer

well...I'm 13 too and first of all your problems began as soon as you picked up that first cigarette...BUT i'm not here to judge im hear to help. First of all I'm not a smoker myself but most of my family does so I can relate. Here's some suggestions....
First- You can try asking your friends for support. Like asking them to stop you when ever you want to smoke or buy cigarettes.
Second- If you're close to your parents then try telling them or at least one of them. They could help you..sure they'll be upset at first but they can really help.
Third- If you don't want your parents to find out and you want to deal with it without them, then you can hide it by keeping some kind of Cologne or deodorant to keep the smell of it away, and you can chew gum or eat tic tacs for your breath.
Fourth- Ok as dumb as it seems, talk to yourself. Pretend as if you're your own best friend. If you were split into two different people and one side of you was very fit and healthy and another was a smoker what would you have the healthy side say to the smoker.?
Fifth- Picture every inhale you have of the cigarette is killing you, picture the smoke intoxicating you. Picture you're life shortening.. you're taking days away from your life...everyone you ever knew and loved hurt because of it...not a very pleasant thought.

Put a small note in your cigarette pack as a reminder to stop and think every time you want a smoke. Think how stupid and week you are for smoking . Really get down on yourself (Hard) Then go ahead and smoke. after a while your mind will get tired of the blame you put on it and deal with it by connecting smoking with self punishment and one day you will reach for a smoke and just toss them away. Once your mind decides it's had enough there is no stopping it from stopping the abuse. Harmony is the natural state for it. Once that happens you won't have any withdraws or any problems with being around other smokers. In fact you can like the smell for a while without the urge. As times passes you will hate the smell.Health Question & Answer
