Can some one help .. in regards to upper back pain?!

Question: Can some one help .. in regards to upper back pain.?
I have been having problems in the last year mainly with numbness and tingliness and aching in my upper back. Where my shoulder blades are. It happens a lot when I clean or doing a lot of bending motions. I have been going to the chiropractor almost every month and a half to get it cracked and massaged. It works temporarily obviously. But it has been getting worse. I went last week and this week on wednesday. Yesterday I started getting pain when I breathed and stuff. Today is so bad! I can't get do dishes, I can't stand, even laying down on the couch hurts. The pain is On my right shoulder blade. Any movement hurts. I took an ant inflammatory as well as some codeine They edge has been removed but I am still getting the tingling numbness. I do know that my posture is a bit slouched, but even hurts to have it properly. I am going to Dr next friday to get referral to massage therapy. BUt I am wondering do I have a problem. Like something wrong with me.? Like a condition.? also what can I do to help the pain.? Has anyone else gone through this.? It is frustratingHealth Question & Answer

Answers:
There are a couple possibilities - You may have Muscular irritation, joint dysfunction, or even a pinched nerve. I have suffered a pinched nerve that affected my left shoulder and arm. Muscular irritation can be caused by weak muscles, or overusing an injured muscle - ie repetitive movements. For muscular irritation and joint dysfunction, physical therapy should help and usually includes a program with stretching the spine and shoulders, and helping strengthen the muscles. Talk with your doctor about the pain and ask him/her about the chances of a pinched nerve. If it is a pinched nerve, it may require more than just physical therapy.Health Question & Answer

I have this problem occasionally, and i can more or less control it by stretching and lifting weights, but if I stop doing these things (especially the stretching), it returns after several weeks. See if the doctor can refer you to a physical therapist for a couple sessions to teach you the appropriate exercises and stretches.Health Question & Answer

If u are getting tingling and numbness, it could very well be a pinch nerve somewhere in upper back but the only way u can know for sure, is to have it diagnosed. If it is getting as bad as you say it is, ask your doctor to have an x-ray of your upper spine. If x-ray dont show anything and u are still in pain, your doctor might want you to go for an MRI of your upper spine. It could be the only way for you to find out what is really wrong.
Take care and think positive.Health Question & Answer
