What's causing my exhaustion and poor sleep and what can I do about it?!

Question: What's causing my exhaustion and poor sleep and what can I do about it.?
Been having sleep problems for several weeks. My counsellor thought it was academic stress so I should work on managing that and other things like sleep would all into place. But it was my sleep problems and tiredness that interfered with my ability to work in the first place because I was either not being able to stay up at all during the day, or waking up just 3 or 4 hours after sleeping, some times even 2 and not being able to go back to sleep. also, often I wake up because of having strange/unpleasant and very detailed dreams.

I have been working on fixing my sleep, going to bed at a reasonable time, making sure I don't sleep during the day no matter how sleepy I get. So though that is sort of better, I still feel so achy all over. My arm and leg muscles especially. Even my shoulder blades a bit.

Other stuff - I recently started on Diane 35 for PCOS. But I think the sleep thing started just a bit before that ...

Please help :( Thanks.Health Question & Answer

Before I would take any kind of drug which can have a number of unwanted side effects, I would take natural minerals.

Get a calcium - magnesium available almost everywhere and 1 hour before bed take enough to make 1,000 ml calcium. Cal. & mag. are both natural stress relievers, muscle relaxers, pain relievers and sleep inducers. Very calming and good for our bodies muscles and bones.

They are not expensive and even grocery stores have them in stock. Do not take calcium alone though - the magnesium is really needed to balance. No side effects except feeling better when the body gets the much needed rest.
Maybe a hot cup of camomile tea w/that.?
Sweet dreams. D.Health Question & Answer

OMG I have PCOS too, im managing it through naturopathic alternatives.. whats diane 35.? I have the same sleep issues and body aches, have you spoken to your dr about that.? I get up early eat reasonable amounts of food 4-5x daily (it keeps you metabolism going) and i dont eat 2-3 hours before sleep plenty of fluids. it could also be a phase and your body is adjusting to stress or medications.Health Question & Answer

Insomnia is not a side effect of Diane 35. However it is a symptom of depression. You have some red flags here. Not sleeping well is a big one and so is general aches and pains. I would google depression and see if you have other symptoms. You may have depression starting to set in and not know it yet. There is good medication that really can help with depression. also ask your Dr about ambien which is a very good sleep aid that does not cause daytime drowsiness. Good luckHealth Question & Answer

You can get a prescription for Ambien which should help you sleep through the night and not wake up drowsy.Health Question & Answer

Sounds simple, but have you tried warm milk.?
Next would be the vitamin Melatonin. It's sold every where and people swear by it.
Next would be to see your doctor for Ambien CR. The CR means it not only puts you to sleep, but it keeps you asleep.
You're doing good not napping in the daytime! The bed is only for sex and sleeping. No TV, reading, PC, nothing.
Lastly, would be to see a psychiatrist. Not because you're crazy! That's just an old stigma. Shrinks are the smartest doctors. They go to school an extra 4 years, and know more about medications and solving problems like yours.
There's plenty of help and hope for you. Please try everything I suggested. Bless you and good luck soon! :)Health Question & Answer
