What happened to my vein?!

Question: What happened to my vein.?
OK, so I went to give blood today and after getting all the prep done, the tech inserted the IV tube. Upon her doing this, I felt immense pain in the crook of my arm, to the point that she had to remove the IV and I could not actually donate. The site is still sore and I have a nasty bruise forming, as well as some interesting marks. I initially thought it was a blown vein, but upon researching, it looks nothing like this. The mark is the the outside of the puncture site, appears to run parallel to the vein the needle was inserted into and then there is a blood bruise moving away from the "needle mark."

This is a picture taken approximately 4.5 hours after the puncture. You can clearly see the red puncture mark and the purple red is the questionable thing: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php.?pid=34...

This photo is from 7.5 hours after the puncture and you can see that the subcutaneous bleeding has spread and there is now a nasty purple bruise surrounding the lower portion of the mark: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php.?pid=34...

Anyone have any ideas.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
It is a blown vein. I know this because it happens to me every time I get blood drawn. I also know because I'm a phlebotomist (I draw blood). If she got blood from the site then she was actually in the vein but maybe not all the way. If she had to change sites then she ruptured the vein (no biggie) and blood was allowed to seep under the skin. Its not a big deal but if you start noticing red lines running from it then you need to see a Dr. Health Question & Answer

From what I see it looks like a hemotobia. But I can't understand why there's an X mark on it. I would assume after the strange mark disappears you might try again in 6 mths.Health Question & Answer
