Having black out spells..?!
Question: Having black out spells...?
Over the past several weeks I have been having these episodes where I black out. Most often it is I am kneeling down to pick something up or look for something. When I stand up everything goes black, I can't see at all, and I get *very* dizzy. I have never had this kind of trouble before, and am unsure if its something to be worried about. I have never passed out or fainted in my life (am 28 years old) I am in pretty good health, not overweight, don't drink, and try to be active. I don't have medical insurance, so going to a doctor is not really an option at the moment. Has anyone else experienced anything like this before.? Health Question & Answer

Sounds like you are having what is called 'syncope'.
Often when making postural changes people with syncopal episodes will feel faint or pass out. This can often be cardiac related. You need to call your PCP and maybe have them refer you to a cardiologist for bloodwork, and possible a tilt table test to see if your blackouts are truly cardiac syncope, or just an imbalance in some kind of lab that can be fixed with medication.
The other alternative is that it may be neurological.
The first thing to do would be call your PCP, you don't want to pass out at the wheel, or have a serious fall and injure yourself.Health Question & Answer

Sounds like orthostatic hypotension. It means that your blood pressure drops when you stand up to quickly. Here's a link that I found. It has a lot of medical jargon, but try to scan through it. I strongly advise you to bite the bullet and go get checked out.

You may have respiratory or circulatory complications. You should seek immediate medical attention, as the worst case scenario for these types of complications can be a stroke leading to death. Chances are, it's probably not, but you need to find out before these black outs get any worse.Health Question & Answer
are you getting enough fluids.? eating a balanced diet.? When you're undernourished sometimes that can effect blood flow...if you bend down and flip your head up too quickley your blood flow reacts, and effects your brain/eyesight/body. Trying eating a balanced meal, if you kneel down do it slowly, if you get up do it slowy. Health Question & Answer
Actually i knew a girl who had the same problem and she said that it was due to her very low blood sugar. At worst it can be a very very small case of epilepsy where people with it have been known to just pass out or get dizzy spells.Health Question & Answer
My thoughts would be possible epilepsy. I have epilepsy, and it can be tricky. It sometimes takes a while to come out. My grandfather had similar to what you're describing suddenly occur when he was 22. I would suggest seeing a neurologist for an EEG.Health Question & Answer
Not an expert, but this sounds like it needs medical attention. I'd start with one of those walk-in urgent care clinics. They are much less expensive than an emergency room visit. Yes, its going to cost you a bit, but you're health and peace of mind will be worth it.
