What is this knot on my wrist?!

Question: What is this knot on my wrist.?
I am nearing the end of my medical transcription training, so yes, I do A LOT of typing. About 3 or 4 weeks ago, I noticed a pea-sized knot on the underside of my wrist right below the thumb muscle. It doesn't really hurt; I can feel only mild pain if I press on it. I have no other symptoms of carpal tunnel, so I don't think it is that. Could a knot be the first symptom, or do you think it is something else.
I plan on going to the doctor soon, but I am curious in the meantime.
P.S. I have never had an injury to my wrist.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
You have a cyst. This is a classic presentation of a carpal cyst. It appears in people that do a lot of computer work or typing. It is not serious and unless it becomes very painful, they will not do anything about it. Unless it is painful or growing, you do not even really need to go to the doctor.

Monitor it to see if it gets worse, but more than likely, it is nothing serious.

Good Luck
