Oh boy do I understand thiis problem! It would happen to me almost every month - and I used to have to wear a super-plus tampon TOGETHER WITH an overnight maxi with wings - and it would STILL happen!

I would use a good laundry detergent mixed with hot water, an old washcloth or rag, and elbow grease. Be sure to pull the fabric of the mattress taught with one hand while scrubbing with the other, and rinse out the washcloth after every few wipes..

Use a hair dryer (keep it moving) to dry it after the stain has been removed. You may leave a watermark depending on how dirty the mattress was to begin with.

Then, to help prevent this, make sure to put on a good thick mattress cover. If it's thick enough, you won't have to use the waterproof kind (I hate the crinkly sound of those). There are small waterproof pads (the kind used for baby-changing) that you could put under the thick mattress cover on that area of the bed, also.

I can't even begin to tell you how many pairs of undies, sheets, and jammies I have gone through in 35+ years of having my period. Mine was always very, very heavy. But in your instance, it sounds like it was just a matter of not being prepared, so, around that time of the month, you may want to just throw on a pad for overnight "just-in-case's".

Good luck and happy scrubbing!Health Question & Answer

There are some chemicals you can use, but I would try the least "invasive" method you can find first...harsh chemicals on the place you sleep can have some adverse effects. Try just using simple green or something of that nature, if that doesnt work try bleach. Im pretty confident that bleach will get the stain out. There might be some residual staining but for the most part that should work. Good luck!Health Question & Answer

carpet cleaner a towel and an iron. spray some carpet cleaner on the stained area, place the cotton towel on top, then take hot iron and iron the stain out. it will transfer to the towelHealth Question & Answer

Spray it with Spray'n'wash or "Shout it Out" as soon as possible and let it soak in for a while, then take a cloth and it rubs out clean.

Depends on the material a bit... Blood stains on sheets can be washed out pretty good with water and a lot of salt. I dunno how well it works with a mattress, but can't hurt to try.Health Question & Answer
