Severe pain after sedation yesterday. Does anyone know whats causing it?!

Question: Severe pain after sedation yesterday. Does anyone know whats causing it.?
I was sedated yesterday for some dental work. I have had many IV's in the back of my hand so I am used to general soreness and bruising. This time however the anaethatist had trouble with the IV. Today I cannot bear the slightest of touch to my hand. I also cannot bend at the wrist and now have a red rash (not raised) covering the back of my hand. I have never had any of these problems before.

If I could liken the pain to anything it would be a wrist fracture. Does anyone have any ideas what is going on.?

Thanks guys xHealth Question & Answer

Probably missed the vein the first time or so, or it ruptured while you were out. Then they had to work frantically to get another one in no doubt did some pain building work. The reason you have trouble bending your wrist is because fluid leaked out into the arm itself. I would insist on seeing the Dentist who did the work and show what's going on. Especially the rash. The swelling from the fluid will go away on it's own, but the rash might require an antibiotic cream like Neosporin. Wishing you the best young lady and good luck.Health Question & Answer

There are little valves in our veins that help push the blood to where it's supposed to go, most likely the anesthesiologist blew one of those valves when she inserted the IV. I've had this happen, and it can be very painful, but usually it will go away in a few days. If the pain and rash does not go away within a week or so, then I'd see a doctor.Health Question & Answer
