There was a piece of plastic in my drink. The kind of plastic that the wring around a bottle neck is made of. Not a big piece, I can breathe and swallow, but it's uncomfortably lodged in my throat, too far down to trigger my gag reflex, but it doesn't seem to be moving any farther. All of my attempts to choke it out have failed, and I can't make myself throw up. I'd be the worst bulimic ever. It's uncomfortable now, but it will eventually go through, right.? If I can't get it out.?

If you say it is past the gaging reflex, and it is uncomfortable, I recommend seeing a doctor. Although there is a chance it will pass, there is also a chance that it can harm you.
The tuff and rough texture of plastic can easily cut through important organs. Not to mention the the gastric acids may not be able to break it down. The plastic, once melted down can also release toxins in your body and may cause you body to attack it thinking its a disease. So just to be in the safe side, I'd go see a doctor.

As long as you can breathe and swallow, it should be fine. That discomfort you're feeling is either from the plastic scratching against your throat when you swallowed or it can still be in your throat area. Try eating the inside of a piece of bread and see if that helps. But if you feel that it is still in the throat area, don't have nothing but do see a doctor. Health Question & Answer

well if you REALLY want to throw up you can drink ipecac aka syrup of ipecac (its what you are supposed to drink if you swallow something poisonous) ... it is probably safer if you just drink soda etc and wash it down. it will then go through your system... as long as it wasnt sharp you shouldnt have any problems... if 24 hours has passed and it still hasnt moved... I would go to an urgent care clinic etc just to have it checked out...Health Question & Answer
Since it is stuck in your throat you should go to a hospital where they probably have a long device that can hook it out. If it is not sharp it should go through you. Syrup of Ipecac (pharmacies) will make you vomit. But really you should seek medical attention.Health Question & Answer
