I have had 2 fusions and donor bone put in my neck, it hurts to hold my head up, is the surgery broken?!

Question: I have had 2 fusions and donor bone put in my neck, it hurts to hold my head up, is the surgery broken.?
I feel like my head is going to fall to the side and I'm going to drop to the ground. Seriously, I literally have to hold my head still to feel relief.Health Question & Answer

I've had the same operation except the bone came from my hip,, are you talking about after you took your brace off.?.?.? You should have used it for at least 3 weeks or until the doctor tells you that you no longer need it.

If you are talking about that you just got out of the brace that is kind of a normal feeling,,, the muscles in your neck just feel weird,,especially if they cut your throat,, that will feel weird and scary for awhile,, but if you were ok out of the brace and this is something new then you need to get to your doctor asap,,, in fact go to an ER.

Your head won't fall,,, you have a metal plate, 2 screws, and 2 rods holding the part they operated on,,, but like I said,, if you are just out of the brace you will feel better everyday,,, if not you need to seek medical attention. Good luck

And don't bother holding your head,, use the brace!!! If it is an Alpine brace I'd even sleep in it for an extra week,,,, I wore mine off and on for almost a year.

Here are two sites you should check out

on the spine-health site you can see an animated video on the exact surgery you just had,, it shows you why you have the plate and what the screws and rods are doing,, it's coolHealth Question & Answer
