My two children (4 & 2) got their flu shot today about 5:30 and they are in pain right now. Can I give them any pain killers like tylenol or some sort of children's medication.? I'm stressed out right noe because I hate to see them in pain. Please help!!Health Question & Answer

Pain as how.? They're whole arm.? Just the injection spot.? Look at the site, is it swollen, red.? Does it look abnormal.? Maybe a low dosage of tylenol will help, sometimes kids get in they're heads that it "hurts" more than it really does. Flu shots will often leave your arm sore so i'm sure this is what they are crying about. If it pursists, or worrys you more, please go to the doc. or ER! Good luckHealth Question & Answer
Sounds as though they may have a case of the flu from the attenuated virus injection.
And/or, the doses they received may not have been properly adjusted for their tiny little bodies. A child's dose is based on weight and not on age.
Can do what you need to do to treat their temps if they have them. They should be ok with children's tylenol.
Might want to take your focus off the shot being the culprit and start thinking about whether they have the flu. You know what to do if it is the flu.

Won't hurt to do that at all. Just give them enough to calm them down and probably by tomorrow the pain will have eased or gone all together. Never, ever take advice from total strangers on-line about medical concerns. Call your doctor's after hour number or call the emergency room of your local hospital and ask to speak to the ER room charge nurse.

You have to report it to your doctor, as it could worsen and he has to know about it. It's a reaction, next year you should also remind that to your doctor. It's not him who feels bad for your babies pain. It's you .Health Question & Answer
Children's Tylenol.? Or if you only have adult pain medicine, just read the bottle and follow the indications for small children, it should say it on there.Health Question & Answer
