Question: Why do my hands turn purple and the veins show when I am cold.?
This happens a lot in school..and it's kind of embarassing when I have to show my hands in front of people. It usually happens when I am cold. My hands turn a purple color, and you can see the veins, and it's really noticeable (unless I hide my hands). Sometimes this even happens for just no reason (when I'm not even cold). My mom thinks it's just poor circulation, but she said the next time we are at the doctor's she will have her check it out. Does anyone know what could be wrong.?Health Question & Answer

Some people are more sensitive to the cold and react in this fashion, perhaps flushing with heat or exertion as well. In some theory, this slower circulation might result from proteins that become gelid or not as liquid at higher temperatures than normal and, thus, tend to impede the flow of blood through the plasma. This has yet to be proven and would only be significant if you consistently maintained a temperature cool enough to trigger this effect.Health Question & Answer

Hey that happens to me too! :D except my hands just turn purplish red and the stay white if you poke them.

lol....That happens to me to!!!! I have pale skin, to the point where it like sticks out when I am out in the sun with other people....lol....and when I am cold my hands turn purple and almost like a grey color too because of the pale complexion....it is probably just your skin.Health Question & Answer

Because my right hand does it..and I broke it twice..and my left hand doesn't do it nearly as bad.
