I'm not sure if I have a Bankart lesion or not after a dislocated shoulder. What should I do?!
Question: I'm not sure if I have a Bankart lesion or not after a dislocated shoulder. What should I do.?
I was playing basketball, and someone fell backwards and i pushed on their back to hold them up, but this threw my arm out of it's socket with a crunching, popping sound. I put it back into place and it still aches all the time now. I can't move it up high or make many motions without some pain. I feel like it's going to pop back out when I do something. How would I know if it's really a Bankart lesion or just the usual pain after a displacement.?Health Question & Answer
Answers:
there are many things that could be going on. A bankart lesion is not necessarily on the top of the list, and there is generally not much you do for it anyway. You need 2 things. Evaluation by a physician and probably an x-ray. the x-ray will pick up subtle bony injury, such as a bankart lesion or hill-sachs deformity, and the physician evaluation will assess for soft tissue injuries such as a rotator cuff injury. there is no way to diagnose a bankart lesion without seeing it on x-rayHealth Question & Answer
