Temporary or permanents back problems?!

Question: Temporary or permanents back problems.?
I don't have a locker and i know I overload my backpack. I walk home from school everyday, so I carry it about a mile & to all my classes.
My back, and shoulders always hurt, but when I put it on, even for a few minutes it hurts really bad. By the time I get half way, my shoulders get tingly and go numb, but after I take it off, they just hurt.
I had the same problem last year. I thought it would stop hurting over the summer, but it didn't so this year it's even worse.

I know I'm hurting my back, what I need to know is it just temporary soreness, or could I be doing permanent damage too.?Health Question & Answer

This is really my pet-peeve. I have been a big advocate at our school district to help ensure kids aren't injuring their backs because of carrying too heavy of backpacks. At our schools (high schools and middle schools), I worked tirelessly with a committee that ensured in each classroom there are textbooks for each student (now there is not the necessity to carry books to class). Each student also has a home book that is left at home for homework. So, at no time a student is loaded down with books. I seriously recommend you ask your parents get involved in such a movement. School Districts are in danger of seriously injuring their students backs and NO student should be put at this risk by having to carry too heavy of backpacks around.

In the meantime here is that talks about backpack safety:

also, when you get home from school try to alternate ice and heat and 15 minutes intervals. The ice will help reduce inflammation and the heat will help relax your back from spasms. You may want to consider going to bed with a hot water bottle on your back. So your back is relaxed when you wake-up.
also, some kids have found messenger bags put less stress on their back when carrying them:

I hope this helps.Health Question & Answer
