Pain can radiate out from the actual source of an injury and seem like it is from another area at times and also because of pain in one area of your body you can favor that area and cause another part of your body to become tender. I had knee surgery a few years ago and because I was favoring that knee my hip was very sore on my other leg because I was trying to stay off the sore knee.Health Question & Answer

It won't be the shin bone it will be the muscle behind the shin and yes it is very possible that the muscle behind your shin hurts due to your knee. This is because as you said the knew muscle is connected to the shin muscle. Best bet is a trip to the Physio. Hope that helps.
