Hands and fingers have gone numb/tingly feeling off and on?!

Question: Hands and fingers have gone numb/tingly feeling off and on.?
I've noticed for the last week or so that my hands/fingers have gone all numb/tingly feeling. It comes on for 5mins or so, then goes away. I have gotten it each time I've knitted and other times have been when I've been using my hands/wrists.
I was told 3-4 years ago I had carpel tunnel after a nerve test was done on my arms/neck area for neck reasons. My wrist do hurt from time to time.
could this feeling be caused by the carpel tunnel.? Could this be progressing more.?
Anything I can do about it.?
ThanksHealth Question & Answer

yes i think you are right, about the carpel tunnel. it is a form of arthritis. i used to do a lot of sewing and the year my husband died i was in so much pain from it that i would pace the floor. if i were you i'd have the surgery. i was in so much pain for years, it then went into remission. when it came back about 7 years ago nothing that we could do would ease the pain. i had surgery on both hands, it was a piece of cake. i put up with all of that pain when the surgery was so easy. go to a dr. and get things started for yourself. dont spent years of being in pain, when there is true relief. yes you have carpel tunnel, but do something about it.Health Question & Answer

Not a hole lot you can do about it other than have it looked at, thats what mine would do and I had to shake it off, I finally had the surgery and it was the best thing ever, I think it was a EKG done on my hand, they said it was pretty well compressed.. good luck with itHealth Question & Answer

It is carpal tunnel. This is what it does. Get a wrist brace and wear it all the time till you see an ortho and have surgery. I had to have both of mine done.Health Question & Answer

A nerve somewhere that is being compressed...may be the carpel tunnel ( basically that's what it is) may be something new...try sitting somewhere else when you knit....Health Question & Answer

If you do constant repetition, at home, work, or just at the computer, it's probably carpel tunnel with a touch of tendonitis.

I worked in the grocery business for 18 years and about 10 years ago, I started to have problems, waking up at night with my whole arm being numb, couldn't pick anything up, and even holding the steering wheel was causing me pain.

I told my boss, it became a workers comp case, and had to go to their doctor, he did a nerve conduction on both arms, and said I had it mild in the right and moderate in the left, after 30 days you can get another opinion. plus I had heard stories about that perticular doctor. Talked to some co-workers and they recommended another doctor.

I proceeded to make an appointment with him but he happpened to be on vacation, but they also had a hand specialist, so I said let me see him.

Well, to get to the point, after he examined me and looked over the other doctors findings, he said he wanted to do surgery on me in two weeks. After my surgery, the doctor said it was a wonder that I had any feeling in my left hand since the nerves were so pinched off. He then sent me to an occupational therapist who specialized in hands only, neeedless to say, most people who have the surgery end up having a 2,3,and have terrible scars, but I had an excellent doctor and therapist.

It's been 10 years and I have more strength in my left hand than I do in my right hand. I only feel a twinge on cold days.

always get a second opinion.Health Question & Answer

Could be the carpal tunnel, could be a nerve getting pressure in your neck while you look down on your knitting. Happens to me too. Try resting your elbows on the arms of a chair so you hold the knitting higher so you don't have to look down so much.Health Question & Answer
