When my son was little he was bitten in the face by a cat. He actually needed 4 to 5 stitches in it but the doctor wouldn't do it. He said that cat bites are very dirty and very prone to really bad infections. He had me carefully clean it 3 times a day and then apply antibacterial ointment to it. If you think it's infected then you do need to see a doctor.Health Question & Answer

How deep did the cat bite.? Surface wound or puncture wound.? My cats have playfully bitten and scratched me before and because the dander in their claws and their saliva it caused a histamine reaction and would be red and throbby for a few mins to a few hours. I would wash the area with soap and water or peroxide and add neosporin. After all that and if a few hours have passed and you're still in throbbing pain see a doctor.Health Question & Answer

if her shots arent up to date or if the cat seems sick in any way get seen imediately, but if its all fine than there normally is pain with bites. if the bite is bad or bleeding a lot see a doctor or if the pain is unmanagable with tylenol. if you have any doubt your doctor wont mind checking you out to be safe.Health Question & Answer

If the skin was broken--get it checked out. Cat bites can become infected really quickly. If it is warm to the touch, is red or swollen these are signs of an infection.
You will need to be on antibiotics.

My cat bit me, it started to throb and swell...I called my doc and he told me to go to the ER. My arm had swelled to twice the size by the time I got there. I spent a day getting IV antibiotics.Health Question & Answer

See a doctor a.s.a.p. because you will need a tetanus shot if blood has been drawn. This is very important after a bite from an animal. If the cat didn't break the skin and draw blood, you can see if it's any better tomorrow.Health Question & Answer
