Why is my ear bleeding? I got a second hole in my ear on Nov. 26th '08?!

Question: Why is my ear bleeding.? I got a second hole in my ear on Nov. 26th '08.?
Yesterday, my ear was bleeding where my ear was recently pierced. I already have a hole in my ear, but i got a new one above it. It's not cartilage, but my ear lobe. Okay, so my question is, why.? I guess i haven't been cleaning it a lot, but i have been twirling it. There's a sore around it and i have to wait 'till Dec. 26th to take it out. Can i put like neosporin on it or something & then the earring.? Any suggestions.?Health Question & Answer

that what happened to me, i got it bout a week ago, and its still happening now, it would bleed, stop, den deres like an area that is really crusty and u can peel it off---sounds so gross!!! But, it happened to me and i was recommended to put alcohol on it using a cotton swab, it its completely normal, its not like you have ear infection, give it some time and continue to have an earring in the hole, it will go away soon, btw it maybe best to put your earrings into alcohol cuz something on it may have caused the irritation.Health Question & Answer

You should let the hole heal. It is probably infected.Health Question & Answer

put some neosporin on it. and clean it everyday from now on....Health Question & Answer

Neosporin says right on the packaging that's it's not for use on punture wounds, and that's exactly what a piercing is. It's petroleum based, so it's likely to leave a residue on the earring post that will actually trap dirt and dead skin cells.

You'd be better off cleaning it with rubbing alcohol, or with the antiseptic that you piercer should have provided you with. Make sure you clean the area around the piercing, as well as as much of the earring post as you can get at without taking it out of the ear lobe.

It may just be irritated from you moving the earring around a lot. It could also be showing signs of infection, especially if there's a visible sore. You might also have developed an allergy to the material the earring post is made from (especially if it's gold, or a post that was plated rather than being made from a single solid material).

As soon as you can take the piercing stud out, I would clear the piercing really well, and then get some earrings with surgical steel posts (or another hypoallergenic metal), sterilize them with alcohol and wear them in until the sore clears up (cleaning the posts thoroughly once daily).Health Question & Answer
