She is getting her third nipple or something off, and she's REALLY scared about it, she's with me now. So if you can, or if you have before please comfort her. I mean she thinks it's like terrible, but i''ve never had surgery before so...Health Question & Answer

No pun intended, but it is no big deal. An accessory nipple will often simply appear to be a skin mole. Although often done as an office procedure using only local anesthesia, it can also be done in an operating room with IV sedation plus local anesthesia. It will probably not require general anesthesia. It will probably take less than 15 minutes once the surgeon gets started. If it is done with local and sedative, it will likely be done before your friend even realizes the procedure has started. I am a doctor, specifically an anesthesiologist.Health Question & Answer
I just had surgery Friday and that was my very first surgery. I was so scared I could not sleep the night before either but there was nothing to it. When I went in they gave me medicine to relax. Then they gave me the IV and I went to sleep. I slept until the nurse woke me up. Then they gave me gram crackers and drink. Its rare that people actully wake up during surgery. Its a greater risk that the roof will cave in during the night then you waking up. The anestioligist nurse stays with you the whole time and moniters your consciousness. She can tell if things start wearing off long before you would actually wake up. Surgery is not bad and best of all you feel better afterwards.

This should be a fairly simple surgery - not to worry. I have had at least 13 surgeries! She will get information on what to do from the doctor. I doubt that she will be hospitalized. tell her not to eat before it if she is having it in the morning tell her not to eat after six the night before and tell her not to worry i've herd that surgeries like those aren't that dangerousHealth Question & Answer
