Answers:
A "Tens machine" does help in the short term. 18 years ago i broke my neck and damaged my lower back. I had some excellent treatment, after 10 years i got back to work. 5 years on my back gave up. For the past 3 years the lower back pain and sciatica became unbearable. Eventually i had major spinal surgery.
The sciatica's better ( at least i can walk now) My back is a lot better. However it will never be right.
Over the years i have tried prescription drugs, tens machine, osteopaths, acupuncture, steroid injections, morphine patches, alcohol and cannabis.
Nothing worked, it just masks the problem. Unfortunately it has to be really bad before they'll operate and then it might not work.
I know this answer doesn't help you much, at least you will know what to expect when it becomes unbearable.

Oh by the way, the booze and dope get you a good nights sleep.
It also knackers your liver and lungs, not to mention the hangover.

A good chiropractor, or osteopath can do it for you. Worked for me, but get a reference for a good one, as there are some expensive duds out there.Health Question & Answer
