UK Air Ambulances (i.e. helicopters) question...?!

Question: UK Air Ambulances (i.e. helicopters) question....?
When you make a 999 call, what is the decision-making process (if one exists) as to whether an air ambulance or normal (road) ambulance is called to the scene.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
When a relative had a fatal accident it was on a narrow country road during the busiest time for travelling and in view of this the air ambulance was called. It must have been a rapid decision as he was pronounced dead at the scene, the helicoptor didn't even land, but they were there overhead
