Question: What does this mean when I see flashes of light.?
I do have a history of visual hallucinations with my psychotic depression among other things. Sometimes I see little specks of light that go out as quickly as they appeared. These are mostly noticeable in the dark. Today I seen a fluttering of white light in my Peripheral vision of my right eye. It seems that most of this stuff has been happening in my right eye. I could be wrong, but that's what it seems. Now I have been having visual hallucinations like these for about two years and they vary in intensity. I'm worried these may be warning signs of a retinal detachment, but like I said I've been seeing this stuff for two years and I thought retinal detachments were acute.Health Question & Answer

Sounds much more like a AURA that one can get associated with migraine headaches.
You can have the auras without the headaches.

I understand your concern about it being mental health related, but I do believe that it is a physical eye problem. see an optomologist- this is common, so dont worry! good luck.Health Question & Answer
You better make an appointment to see a doctor.....it sounds like you have glaucoma, which untreated will cause total blindness...see an optometrist as soon as possible..........Good luck......Health Question & Answer
