Will adhd medicine make ocd and mild paranoia symptoms worse and what about suicidal thoughts? Kind of long...?!

Question: Will adhd medicine make ocd and mild paranoia symptoms worse and what about suicidal thoughts.? Kind of long....?
My son is a teenager with adhd, ocd and mild paranoia (always afraid that someone is going to break into the house or is hiding in the house, but does not obsessively lock doors or anything just checks in any "hiding places" in his room before he goes to bed) Will Adhd medicine make these symptoms worse or cause him to become more worried.?

also, he has been known to impulsively injure himself when upset or angry.

I am afraid that the medication will make him suicidal and that he won
Answers:
Depends a little bit on the meds, but yes it's very possible that the meds will make the paranoia worse. Stimulants are generally used to treat ADHD and just think about the effect these meds could have on obsessive behaviors as well.
My advice is to get him off the ADHD meds. It doesn't sound to me like that is his primary problem. children are impulsive and have difficulty concentrating for many different reasons, one common cause of these behaviors is underlying depression or other psychological problems.Health Question & Answer

Katelin, I am someone who has suffered from paranoia in the past. Taking him to a good psychiatrist (get some good referrals from doctors/friends/acquantances) and getting him on medication will help. But I can't overestimate the value of a good psychotherapist who can help him talk through his situation. You will probably have to shop around for the right one.Health Question & Answer
