Sounds like you have a cutting addiction. Therapy can help with that. Just having someone to talk too, and also having someone show you other ways to deal with life problems that work just as well as cutting does currently, and that way you will no longer be hurting yourself.
Take care. <3Health Question & Answer

When you inflict pain you get a huge rush of adrenaline. If you are inflicting pain of yourSELF, your body will release endorphins that make you happy as a form of protection from too much stress over pain.
It's kind of like smoking. It makes you feel better. It's not good for you but it DOES make you feel better. Self infliction is a way to force your body to make you feel better when you're unhappy.Health Question & Answer

It stimulates our mind, it focuses on something, it resides the sad feeling when you do things in risk - its a self defense mechanism putting every worry behind us and focus on whats more important - like: throwing a knife in the air!

Just make sure you dont close your eyes and face up in the sky.

I know there's no such thing as normal but your behaviour is "not unusual". So, don't panic. The "release" of cutting can be explained by the chemicals your body releases as a result of the wound. These are endorphins and they are primarily there to help us cope with the pain of being wounded.

Cutting can become a recurring behaviour and there are risks and consequences. Ideally you need to stop but if you want to continue you need to be able to manage the risks. So, only cut in areas away from major blood vessels, and use a sterile blade.

I used to be like that...
I don't really know how I stopped all of a sudden, but I did.

It's a good thing your trying to stop! That's a great start. Tell a close friend or someone you trust to hide the knives so it's unlikely to do that.Health Question & Answer

i've been a cutter for almost three years. it helps, because when your body is in pain it creates endorphins to deal with that pain. it's like wrapping yourself in a blanket of shock.Health Question & Answer

It's called fidgeting.
You do it because your mind is restless..

And then the pain inflicting.. This is merely because it makes a person feel in control.Health Question & Answer

This is called Cutting and it is addictive. Cutting yourself causes brain chemicals called Endorphines to release into your system these are feel good chemicals. But it only for a short time and you are going to end up with some very embarassing and unsightly scars that you will be embarressed to have to explain. When I was younger I did exactly this same thing. I flipped a knife into the air and it went into the palm of my hand. I soon discovered that I could not move my fingers as I had severed a tendon. It took two surguries and very painful pysical therapy and a brace for six weeks. My hand is still not the same. You need to get professional help because this won't stop on it's own. With help you will learn healthy skills necessary to help you deal with the sadness. Many cutters do this when angry or very anxious. Please you have to get help. It is extremely dangerous and there are also arteries that you can hit and there may not be help available for you in time. Take care of yourselfHealth Question & Answer
