Answers:
My boyfriend of 3 years has this ... and some other things.
hes 33.
He works. You just have to find a place where you feel safe and where any eccentricities of belief or behavior will not be on center stage and where others wont discriminate or taunt you for them. He works in sales at an auto place. Sometimes its uncomfortable for him but hes been there 6 years so its familiar and he can do a good job of "acting" normal for work when need be.
He just got on anti psychotics... but like I said they are still trying to diagnose him for sure if he has more going on that just this so Im not sure what they are giving him the anti psychotics for exactly.

When hes not at work he plays online games like warcraft etc. Or looks up information on star wars. Another of his fantasy interests. And that's about it. Work, computer games, bed.

symptoms

*Incorrect interpretation of events, including feeling that external events have personal meaning
ie-he sees codes in license plates -for example

Peculiar thinking, beliefs or behavior
Belief in special powers, such as telepathy
-he would be considered "weird or odd" by most. He does think sometimes that he can control events or others. Like trying to make other cars on the road do what he wants them to or change intersection lights etc

Perceptual alterations, in some cases bodily illusions, including phantom pains or other distortions in the sense of touch
-he doesnt like to be touched...even by me if I surprise him.. but just generally not interested. He feels water rushing over his hands, bugs, falling sensations that start in his leg and go to his face etc

Idiosyncratic speech, such as loose or vague patterns of speaking or tendency to go off on tangents
- not so sever I can not follow it. Some others cant but I tend to do this myself and I know him well enough to know the movies inside jokes etc that hes alluding to that would be obscure to the general public.

Suspicious or paranoid ideas
-hes moved in the past because he thought everyone was plotting against him. He worrys that others might hear his thoughts or are against him...this happens at work sometimes but usually he can deal with it especially if we talk about it.

Flat emotions or inappropriate emotional responses
-hes not very affectionate. Not open with his feelings. Not very emotionally expressive. Not much for intimacy even less for sex... much like Schizoid in this respect.

Lack of close friends outside of the immediate family
exception to the rule here. He has a girlfriend. And no one else. No family friends anything but me. But Im odd myself and though I do miss intimacy... Ive come to know how great a person he is and am very tolerant and understanding

Persistent and excessive social anxiety that doesn't abate with time
He dislikes others. He is afraid of others due to parinoa mostly if he is afraid of them not due to low self esteem etc. He just doesnt see a point to relationships with others.Health Question & Answer

I thought I was the only one who had this! I haven't been diagnosed with this, but I swear I have either this or borderline! I know a bit about schizotypal because I've read a lot about personality disorders. So I'm sorry I don't actually have experience because I have yet to be diagnosed.

It is a disorder where the sufferer has no desire to be intimate or form relationships with other. Social awkwardness and anxiety and odd beliefs or appearance are present. Some symptoms of it are:
Incorrect interpretation of events, including feeling that external events have personal meaning
Peculiar thinking, beliefs or behavior
Belief in special powers, such as telepathy
Perceptual alterations, in some cases bodily illusions, including phantom pains or other distortions in the sense of touch
Idiosyncratic speech, such as loose or vague patterns of speaking or tendency to go off on tangents
Suspicious or paranoid ideas
Flat emotions or inappropriate emotional responses
Lack of close friends outside of the immediate family
Persistent and excessive social anxiety that doesn't abate with time

I also know that it is like a lesser form of schizophrenia. It goes schizoid personality disorder, schizotypal personality disorder, than schizophrenia

Hope this helpedHealth Question & Answer
