Answers:
I take 50mg Chlorpromazine and my voices have stopped, it also helps with anxiety and insomnia.
I did not find Haloperidol very helpful, and also the older antipsychotics can cause nasty side effects if you take to much.
Have you tried the newer antipsychotics.?Health Question & Answer

I am a lifelong (40 + yrs.) schizophrenia paranoia patient. I have been on anti-psychotics almost continuously. Med's. never completely stopped voices or visual hallucinations they just made it easier to cope with them. I am still on med's and do not hallucinate any more but I think that is primarily due to the TLC of family, friends, Doctors and Nurses. In my humble opinion hallucinations are not usually caused by an abnormal brain treatable with pills (they may be a phenomenon of the unconscious mind but what is the unconscious mind.?) and I don't believe Schizophrenia Paranoia has a genetic cause.

Look up "hallucinations" and "schizophrenia" in Yahoo! web searches. Wikipedia has good summaries. also check out www.intervoiceonline.org and "voice hearers" in Yahoo groups for other schizophrenic patients observations on this subject.Health Question & Answer

Wow! I thought my whole world ended when my psychiatrist raised my risperdal from 3mg to 4.5mg, but I see you've taken the every anti psychotic known to man so I shouldn't complain too much. It seems with me that the voices come and go. They are not continuous. Just the last two weeks the visual, auditory, and tactile hallucinations have come back, but before that I've been good for about a whole year while on rispderal. I've given up on the hope that the voices would disappear completely. I can still dream I guess. .Health Question & Answer

Abilify didn't help at all. Now I refuse to take meds because the tremors were so bad. Good luck.Health Question & Answer
