I have anxiety and I have taken zoloft for it. I took it for about a year. The anxiety was starting to manifest itself and cause physical symptoms so I had to do something, or else I was going to start getting physically ill.

Anxiety can cause high blood pressure, high cholesterol, weight gain or weight loss, abnormal heart beat, loss of sleep and if you dont get adequate amounts of sleep there is a whole nother list of things that can occur.

For me at that time exercise and diet wasnt enough to manage my anxiety and anxiety attacks. I would wake up in the middle of the night with my heart pounding out of my chest. So I took it for about a year, I stopped and feel like I have more tools to deal with my anxiety.

I would recommend trying it if nothing else. The first week of zoloft I felt a little tired sometimes but after that I was fine. It didnt make me feel like a zombie or like someone else. I felt like myself, without the anxiety.

Give it a try if your anxiety is that bad. You deserve the best so allow yoruself to have it!Health Question & Answer

Anxiety can disrupt your whole life and cause it to be almost unbearable. Many times it is biological in nature. I have had anxiety that would cause me to go to the emergency room after fainting or feeling as if I was having a heart attack. There are many, many safe anti-anxiety medications that you can take. It is a choice do I suffer or do I take the pill that will give me a normal life. Anti-anxiety medications are of the kind that you aren't even aware that you are taking medication except for the fact that you have no anxiety. It is absolutely worth it. It changed my life for the better.Health Question & Answer

I have anxiety and I have had to deal with it for years. I have had many doctors with many different medications. I cannot take Zoloft, Librium,Buspar,Effexor ect,.,called antidepressants.... SSRI Serotonin uptake blockers, or TCA's, it made my condition worse and I felt more depressed, it modified my anxiety and panic attacks, so I need the medication to relax me, like the Benzodiazepines. You will have to do some research and talk to your doctor about what works for you. If you have a chemical imbalance, medication can work wonders for you...but you need to know what works for your system, because everyone is different, with different reactions. also ask your doctor about bio feedback. There are natural holistic medications such as GABA or Dexprex you may read about on line and see if that might work out for you.Health Question & Answer

Yes I take the pills...however, finding a pill that is right for YOU might be hard to find...I've been on 4 different pills before I found what worked for me so it just depends on your body everyone will respond different to different pills. If you have anxiety/depression you may want to try a combination of both therapy and drug to help it is usually more effective when treated that way. Good Luck!Health Question & Answer

I have anxiety and don't take pills. I use exercise to chanel it. It's not perfect, but I'm also afraid of feeling out of it on a daily basis. also try daily meditation and self help books. If you do decide to take the meds, that's fine too, just not for me. Good luck!Health Question & Answer

No, I would try to find some mental/physical exercises to do routinely before resorting to medication.Health Question & Answer
