Can Anxiety give you short term memory? ?!

Question: Can Anxiety give you short term memory.? .?
Cause I notice ever since I have gotten anxiety I tend to forget things that I normally wouldn't have.....for instance I could remeber things that has happened 10 or 12 years ago like it was yesterday but I tend to forget things that happen in 5 or 10 min.

so I'm wondering can anxiety do this.? This has led me to believe I'm going insane & ever since then I have been going down hill & my anxiety has gotten even worse because of these irrational unwanted thoughts!! & it has also lead me into researching different mental disorders, all which to a degree scare the hell out of me!!

Whats your thoughts & opinions.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
yes yes yes it happened to me and first... I am much better now.
However....that was the most terrible experience of my life!
It started from two years of every imaginable stressful event after the other and sometimes several events at once . So neverending stress and lack of sleep caused me to be forgetful allright . I also had lack of sleep
which caused more anxiety and then memory and CONCENTRATION problems. Nervous wreck I was then experienced derialization wich is where things kinda look unreal such as I am watching a movie instead of my life but that only lasted till I prayed and slept good! a couple a days later I got intrusive thoughts and anger and fear very scared
of all this but actually from the begining it was all just fear and stress and it got stronger and amplified
the intrusive thoughts will persist till your nerves calm down dont worry they arent anything you actually really feel nor would do ,, ,,that is why thay are intrusive because you would NEVER do them! so by tryint=g to NOT think it again it sort of amplifies the thought or feeds the thought I guess aqnd makes the thought weel, INTRUDE!!!
ok so the most best thing I did was pray
the second was about a week later I came across the" one move technique"
google it
I bought it and downloaded it and cried like a baby whil reading it and discovering I was not insane!
the fear still lingered sometimes and so did the stress but everyday I got better
the most best thing I feel I did was nutrition and water and one a day vitamin
I went to the store and got so many fresh fruits and veggies and just nourished myself. I was clearly lacking vitamins and hydration , I was before drinking much coffee so I TRIED to stop that

but I did everything the book said to do and it helped SOOOOOO much

/My advice is get it
Dont let those thoughts scare you !!!!

wether or not this is a mental disorder officially I think not but it is a stress issue so it does effect our mind.
However are we going to go insane.

NO WAY!!! No howHealth Question & Answer

Trust me. It can. You can ask all you want, and yet I think you know the answer. I know, and I have personal experience which delves into dementia (I am not saying you will get it).
My advice, pray. Exercise. Get fresh air and sunlight as often as possible. Decide what the expectations are in your life, and meet them.Health Question & Answer

yes, stress can do this; I'll star this question so my contacts will see it too.Health Question & Answer

Yes, anxiety can lead to short term memory loss. A study was conducted recently on new mothers who had a lot of things on their "plate", and those with more stress were more forgetful. I realize that you're not a mother, but the point is, the more stress you have, the more forgetful you can become. Stress comes in all degrees, and since your stress is stemming from fear of losing your mind, the problem continues to grow.

Are you sure that your unemployment isn't causing some sort of stress...even subconsciously.? Plus, not being social can cause a breakdown of mental stimulation, which can aggravate things.

To be honest, I have found that the last few years have been really stressful for me. After the death of a beloved family member in 2006, I threw myself into overworking, and then lost my job. I found a new job, but all the stress took a huge toll on me. I still have memory lapses quite a bit. I often forget to pay bills on time, even though the due date has been the same for years...or I forget an appointment (which really scared me for a while because I used to remember appointments made a year in advance, but now I have to remember to check my calendars daily to make sure I haven't missed anything)...and I sometimes forget what I learned in class no more than two days before. It's frustrating because I've never had this problem, but since my aunt's death, it's almost like I can't take care of myself sometimes.

The thing is, you have to remember that this can happen to anyone, so you're not alone. Next, make a list of things that make you anxious, and try to avoid or change those things. For instance, the fear of never being able to give my daughter a better life makes me freak out a lot. So, rather than dwell on the stress, which makes me forget other important things, I spend the extra time with her to get my mind off it. Or, if she's at school, I spend the extra time sitting and concentrating on my goals. The trick is to get your mind to shift and focus on something that isn't stressful.

If you can't do this on your own, you may need to seek help from a doctor or counselor. Good luck to you!Health Question & Answer
