I am a preschool teacher and I have a 4 year old girl in my class who is very bright, catches on quickly to everything, has great fine motors skills and is a top student of my class. My only concern, which her grandmother has asked me about also, is that she completely writes her name backwards. And anything else that she sees to copy. She doesn't only spell her name backwards like if she meant to say frog she would say gorf. She makes the letters backward also like dad is bab. I was wondering if maybe this is a sign of dyslexia and if so, with this being her only noticeable symptom (and of course she is very young I know) how severe is it.? I know many children have different ways of learning to write their names and it isn't necessarily because of anything being wrong. I just thought I would do some research. I find this very interesting. Is it like a game for her right now.? Especially considering the frog turned into gorf situation. That is very smart. My sister would spell backwards and did have a lot of trouble reading and writing. It was latter on in grade school when she was able to sit down with someone and learn with one on one help that she made improvement.Health Question & Answer
