Do you believe certain mental disorders could be caused by demons rather than "chemical embalances?"?!

Question: Do you believe certain mental disorders could be caused by demons rather than "chemical embalances.?".?
Theories suggest that mental disorders such as depression, psychosis, bipolar disorder, can manifest in a number of ways. However, that is just a theory.

To some, God, Lucifer, and demons are just a theory as well. Something that can not be proven yet also something that cant be disproved.

So would you say its quite possible that these dangerous illness' could quite possibly be relevant to demonic possesion or demon taking control of a person.?Health Question & Answer

It is possible.? Yes. Science doesn't say it's not. Does that mean we should replace psychiatrists with priests/rabbis/imams/etc.? Probably not.

Scientific theories are, yes, theories, but they are extensions of existing data that provides a basis for further experimentation. You cannot 'prove' something in science; the data either supports the hypothesis (e.x.: chemical imbalance) or the null hypothesis (e.x.: not chemical imbalance). It is testable, and researchers are actively doing so.

God, the devil- let's just say 'spirituality'- is not based off experimental data. It relies on faith built on faith. Science dismisses those theories for that exact reason: there is no way to support or detract from them. That's not to say it's wrong or evil or otherwise, only that as there is no way to test them they have no value to science. Can you show me actual data, reproducible experiments demonstrating the existence or influence of metaphysical beings.?

Don't get me wrong. I am a Christian, I believe in God, but that doesn't mean you can place a religious theory and a scientific one beside each other. At this point in our existence the two are incompatible; you cannot debate between the merits of two ideas of a fundamentally different nature.Health Question & Answer

I think it's possible. Things like depression and other mental illnesses are caused by external influences which could be considered demons. They get you to do bad things and hurt yourself, and hurt other people. When Jesus was around he supposedly cured people from possession by demons, which were back then, these things that scientists call mental disorders. They have attempted to explain some, putting the blame on chemical imbalances or something that's not working right in your body. lol i'm such a nerd for a teenager. But ya were not that advanced medically or scientifically even though we like to think we are. But ya I'd say it's quite possible. These things were once considered demons until we were given half *** explanations that don't really explain anything, just confuse you until the point where you think "they must be right if they know such big words like that"Health Question & Answer

I believe in scientific chemical imbalances in the brain. For instance I lack the neurotransmitter in my brain of serotonin. My brother is a chronic paranoid schizophrenic which even to this day they know there is a chemical imbalance of these chemical neurotransmitters(nor-epinephrine,dopami... and serotonin etc..ect.)but aren't sure what is missing or what is too much.I also believe in evil.Sociopaths are evil. They have developed no conscious whatsoever and do not suffer from anxiety like "normal"people. If I committed a murder I would suffer from guilt and anxiety. These people don't and also believe they are smarter than all mankind. Is a sociopath(psychopath)just mentally ill or just plain evil thus lacking a soul.?I had a relationship with a sociopath and he was the devil and pure evil.Ambivalent.?Yes...Just my opinion...There would be no counseling nor medications that would change a sociopath!!!PeriodHealth Question & Answer

The disorder will cause one to think about demons. or believe they may be haunted ( paranoia ). Depression can be combated with strong sense of spirituality, and a belief in a higher power. Many would compare their their illness to a demon. Chemistry and medicine have done wonders to help people combat their demons and have a chance at mental stability. We have the power to believe one way or the other. Believe in goodness and let the light guide you.Health Question & Answer

I suppose it could be possible, however highly unlikely.

I would have to say that if you have tried everything to help the mental illness and NOTHING is working, then maybe! Pick up a bible and start reading it...see what happens. Could be you are mentally ill, but experiencing demon attacks. Could also be that you have different mental illnesses other than what you've been diagnosed with and need to be treated differently.Health Question & Answer

I don't believe there is a God so I don't believe such a thing as demons could cause a mental illness. Science explains things like these, just like it explains that the world was not miraculously created in 6 days. I can understand why you might think this though, because some movies suggest this.Health Question & Answer

I have considered this before, however, there are only a few instances in the Bible where someone with "demons" acted like they were mentally ill. Biblically, being inhabited by a demon could manifest itself in many ways, including as physical illness.Health Question & Answer
