I have been experinecing some symptoms of mental illness, or am I just being paranoid?!

Question: I have been experinecing some symptoms of mental illness, or am I just being paranoid.?
Just dropping by and thought I'd ask a quick question. I've read about the symptoms of many mental illnesses, including schizophrenia, which says symptoms can include a withdrawal from society, boredness and a cahnge in personality..dullness. I have all this.

Recently I've stopped hanging out with my friends and prefer staying home doing absolutely nothing. I sometimes question suicide but I'd never do it. I constantly read about shizophrenia becasue I'm scared I have it.Health Question & Answer

Yeah, I agree with the first answer this sounds more like depression.

Schizophrenia is incredibly severe, people would know something was wrong with you there wouldn't be much question. Schizophrenia symptoms also include: delusions, hallucinations, memory problems, irrational thought patterns. If you see, hear, and believe things people tell you are absolutely not true and do not make any sense a lot of the time then you may want to get checked for it. Schizophrenia is a debilitating disease, people usually can not lead any type of normal life without any sort of treatment.

Take an online depression screening, because that is much more common and has the same symptoms you mentioned.Health Question & Answer

I am dealing with depression, and these are the same symptoms I have faced. You should go and talk to to your doctor for a diagnosis, but I believe that could be your problem.

I realized that I was depressed, because I wanted to sleep and eat all of the time (this can be reversed in some people) I couldn't concentrate at work and most of the time, I just didn't want to go at all. also, I didn't feel like hanging out with friends or leave the house.

If you are diagnosed you should seriously consider medication. This is an issue I dealt with, but ultimately I decided to get on a low dose of Celexa. 6 weeks later I am much happier and doing a lot better.
Hope this helps!Health Question & Answer

It sounds to me like you may have some sort of chemical imbalance, not necessarily schizophrenia. One thing is for certain, you should definitely see a doctor to have a regular physical examination and then perhaps the doctor can tell you if you need to see a Psych doctor. Don't ignore it cause it will only get worse. Good luck.Health Question & Answer

I feel the same way as you sometimes ! Someone told me that wanting to stay in all day etc. is also a symptom of a transition in life . During our lives our personalities mature and grow wiser like when we are on the verge of adulthood like me . If we don't feel comfortable with our personalities , we tend to want to abstain from socialising and that is most likely what your feeling now ! I would suggest talking to someone about how you feel , preferably someone in your one age group . You never know , they might be able to relate to how you are feeling and that will relieve the isolation you are feeling ! Just be yourself and enjoy yourself !!Health Question & Answer

if you are in high school, well; you're just about normal. lots of people feel that way. you just have the guts to talk about it. if in doubt, go see a doctor but let me warn you, try to avoid anti-depressants. they have side effects that can be worse than what you are already going through. surround yourself with good friends and good influences. my guess is you will be fine!!!Health Question & Answer
