Answers:
It depends on what kind of relationship you have with your mother.
You may be worried about her being disappointed or mad at you. If she worries about you, you can be sure that she'd like nothing more than to talk with you about it. But maybe she's unable to find the right way to start that conversation and really express her self without being to much like an overbearing mother.
It's really great that you are considering taking charge of the situation. That is exactly what you should do. It shows that even though you are having some serious trouble, you're able to trust your instincts about how to work your way out of a situation.
It's going to take a little time, and help from experienced people is essential.
Trust in your ability to find a better place in your mind, but don't try to do it alone. And be prepared for it to take some time. Have love and patience for your mind. It can wind up in a tight space but it can also always find relief and a new space, given time.

Take heart friend. You don't have to struggle endlessly. Go get some help.
College, your mother and everything else will wait.
Your well-being is the highest priority.Health Question & Answer

Ask your mom to go to a Dr's appointment with you, either a psychiatrist or psychologist. For the first part of your appointment see the Dr alone.
Tell him you feel the need to be hospitalized (as a danger to yourself, that your depression is out of control) Ask him to help you tell your Mom. The second 1/2 of your appointment proceed with both you and your mom in the room. Let the Dr do the explaining and arranging of your treatment.

The Dr. can / may be able to get you out of school without penalty.
This is considered a Medical Reason.

(Today we use Psych Wards in hospitals for short term treatment of our patients with mental health problems) Outside the hospital, there are "day programs" where a person who has difficulty functioning would go to each day, and learn to function in a group of people with similar problems -- one such group I've seen is set-up to take in office type work, prepare meals and keep the office/ kitchen clean. They meet together in groups to discuss various things.)Health Question & Answer

first off, it's normal to have these weird things during college. I have many friends who drop out of college because of mental health issues (I think it's something to do with college that brings it out). 1 out of 4 people have mental health issues.

As for driving, stop it. It isn't healthy to be around or go to places that tempt you to sucide.

Second, you have to tell her. Just email her or write a letter. You need to get some help. Don't be scared of being vulnerable. It's healthy for you to actually have the guts to seek out professional help. It shows your courage.

I hope everything works out!Health Question & Answer

hey hang on there..... every problem has a solution
mental health problems take a long time in recovery and take a lot of effort so be patient and strong,
1. about college ... try ur best to float : get the passing grades.
be gentle to ur self. u have a bigger problems than academics now :ur health.
let academics step second place now.. but don't drop it because keeping u busy and involved in something is an important aspect in treating a psychological disorder..
2. tell the doctor to change ur medicine if they are not helping much and if he doesn't seem understanding change HIM
3.dont drive till u get better so u dont that obsessive thought
tell ur doctor about this obsessive thought. very important that he knows.
4. educate ur self and read as much as possible about your disease to know 'your enemy'
5.ask ur mum for help .talk to her as much as u can.

Maybe start with "Mom, I know you've been worried about me and to be honest I'm worried about me too." Then tell her how you have been feeling and how you think it might be a good thing for you to go to a hospital while your medication is adjusted. Good luck.Health Question & Answer
