Extremely Nervous About Going Back to School... Please Help?!

Question: Extremely Nervous About Going Back to School... Please Help.?
Ok, i will try to make this short. Im a junior in high school this year and i have been unable to attend my regular public school for the past semester (i was put in the hospital this fall for my eating disorder).

Now that it is second semester, my mom and guidance counselor are expecting me to go back. My guidance counselor is a really sweet lady, she made up a new schedule for me with my classes and even talked to me over the phone for 20min today addressing my concerns. However, i dont know if im ready to go back. Im extremely self-conscious and embarrassed about my whole situation, and i dont really have many friends at school to help me through. I also get extremely nervous in social situations (i literally start to feel dizzy and sweat) Im worried that ppl will treat me differently. My other option would be to finish this year up on cyberschool, but im not sure if that's the right thing. I would miss having real teachers, but at least id be in a secure environment and wouldnt have to worry about slipping back into my old ways. It would also allow me some time to do volunteer work and also spend more time with my mother (who i dnt see a lot of these days).

So i guess my question is, would it be better for me to go back to school or finish the year on cyber.? Between this and other problems going on in my life, ive been feeling very overwhelmed.

id be your friend if you lived near me :D

i don't think you should go to cyberschool because that would be like giving into your fears.

your on the rod to recovery so this should be a fresh start, a chance to be a new more confident lady.

don't worry about what other people think, you can never please everyone so theres no point in even trying... i found that out long ago. just focus on you and what matters.

don't be scared to chat to knew people or make new friends at the end of the day we're all human... and we don't bite! :)

good luck

If you go back to school you would be able to see the guidance counselor that you seem to like on a regular basis. The two of you can work together to help you manage your stress about school. If you are not already in therapy, this would be a good time to start seeing a therapist or finding an ED Group that you can join. I hope you will be able to keep yourself healthy. Best Wishes to you.Health Question & Answer

I would say go back to school. I am going through somthing like that, and Im in college. I have anxiety, and panic attacks and it affects me going to my classes. But the best way to deal with these types of feelings, is to face your fears. And you should never feel embarrassed for what's going on in your life. If someone is going to judge you then they arn't worth being your friend anyways. I promise, you will be okay. You just have to remember no matter how your feeling, you are safe. And if you ever feel to the point you need to leave the room, just ask to go to the bathroom and go see your counselor. It's very helpful to have a counselor there for you. I know how cliche this sounds, but seriously, get involved in a sport or something. Show everybody you are still the same person as you were, you know, minus the disorder. If someone confronts you about it, tell them straight up that you are glad they care about you since they are asking, say you are better and that you'd rather not talk about it. Joining a club or support group with help you cope and make new friends.
Go back, because if you dont, you will regret it.
