I have OCD. It doesn't affect us socially, but when I go over my friend's house, I seem like I'm picky and snobby and rich, but I'm really not. It's just that whenever I'm asked to wash a dish, or whenever I'm asked to get the dishes out the dishwasher, I think, "Ew!" I know there's nothing dirty about washing dishes, but it's like my brain tells me that germs will get on me if I hold a dirty dish.

Well it's pretty socially awkward. That being said if your friends try to engage in conversation and OCD is preventing you from really listening, this could condition your friends to simply avoid talking to you all together simply because you find the need to clean, stack, or whatever, far more interesting or important than listening closely to a conversation with a friend.Health Question & Answer

Many people with OCD go through "routines" that they just HAVE to do or else they won't feel right. This could affect them socially because it will take them longer to get ready in the morning going through their routines, meaning they would be late to a social event they may be going to. People may also look at them funny or not want to talk to them when they see them doing these things in public.Health Question & Answer
